"Swimming in San Fran with Madhu and Pedro. Madhu is swimming the Channel the same time I am. Pedro is a legend in cold water ocean swimming, having crossed some of the coldest and most treacherous bodies of water in the world. They are both great guys!"

"This is where I did some cold water training in San Fran. Don't let the placid water fool you - it was very cold there, but great training for what I can expect in the Channel."

2003 Coronado Rough Water Swim

"Which way is the course?"

"I think the guy on the far right beat me!"

"Damn, that water is cold!"

With Carlie before the race

"29:57 - I swear it was longer than a mile!"

At La Jolla High School - My training pool

“Dan Peck, Founder of Swim Smarter, has been very helpful in improving my stroke which is essential given how far I will be swimming. As he said, If I can reduce my stroke count by 4 strokes over 50 yards, imagine how many fewer strokes I will have to take over the course of 25 miles!”

Anne Cleveland, English Channel swimmer, is training for a double this year. Anne has been incredibly helpful to me, sharing all her experiences and insights about how to train for and conquer the Channel. You can learn more about Anne at her website, www.wishuponastarpresentations.com.

With training partner Anne Cleveland during a 6 hour swim. She is a machine! Does my smile appear to be a little forced?!?

On a 6 hour training swim off the shores of La Jolla. Not so easy pulling 210+ lbs around the ocean for hours on end....

Taking a quick "feeding" break during a long training session.

Carlie paddling with me on a long swim.
